What really happens in the library?
Recent research revealed that many library visitors only use one or two services, and most people are simply not aware of the range of activities and opportunities they can find at their local library.
'What Happens in the Library...' aims to encourage people to be inquisitive and curious about what really goes on in the library. They might not be the serious, silent places you think they are! There are so many activities to try, judgment free, from choirs and social meet ups to exercise classes and story time for children. It's all going on at Suffolk Libraries, but you have to pop in and see for yourself!
Concept
What happens in the library… stays in the library. You might think you know what a library is but trust me, it’s not just books and shushing. From choir sessions to aerobics classes, Suffolk Libraries is where you can let loose, try something new, and leave the expectations at the door. No pressure, no judgment—just good times (and maybe a few good reads, too).
Messaging
The messaging puts people first, because Suffolk Libraries isn’t just a place, it’s a community. Taglines like “For chit-chatters, cake nibblers, star jumpers, cross stitchers” speak straight to the people who make it what it is. The punchy, list-style phrasing keeps things moving, building energy and excitement around everything happening inside. It’s lively, it’s inclusive, and it proves one thing - this is not your average library.
The visuals
This campaign is all about energy and connection. Real people, looking straight at you—welcoming, familiar, impossible to scroll past. Bold, organic shapes keep things playful, while hand-drawn squiggles weave through the visuals, adding movement and a spark of fun. It’s a snapshot of what Suffolk Libraries is really about—a place where things happen, where you can show up, get stuck in, and make it yours.
